Different Versions of Hyde

The versions of Hyde that we as a class of seen in both media venues have been drastically different. From the television series "Jekyll" Hyde is a male who resembles his other half if you will. There are very few differences between these two men as far as appearance is concerned. Although in the 1970's move clip that we had watched Hyde was a female that strangely resembled her counterpart as well. The different takes on the appearance of Hyde can change the story quite drastically in my opinion, although I did not have the opportunity to watch the entire film, I do believe that I can infer that the two different versions of the same story would be quite different. I for one believe that the male version of Hyde portrays the story line much closer and is more accurate. Although the movie clip did keep my attention because of the different aspects. What I found most intriguing was the television series, because it followed the story line of the novel some what but also through it into modern day life. This type of storyline has become very popular and I feel as though very effective as well. The different themes of the main character Hyde is up to interpretation. When i'm reading the novel I only picture a male counterpart of Dr. Jekyll because his actions seem more manly than feminine in my own opinion. I have questioned whether this new emphasis on character change will affect the delivering of similar storyline. The rendition of starring a women as Hyde is a bold move and interesting for the most part, although definitely not as believable or bone chilling as a male Hyde. With these two examples I have wondered how character differences have changed movies and television series in the past. Can this change how we feel about the character Hyde?
